Carleton's Raven: Connor Wood

Who has more championships in Canada then Connor Wood? From the small city of Guelph, Ontario, 6'5 G Connor Wood has managed to earn 6 championships and a Canadian MVP award of U-Sports in just 5 years. To clarify: Connor won 5 championships in Canada with the Carleton Ravens and 1 International championship with 3D Global Sports Canada in the 39th William Jones Cup tournament. Perhaps some of Connor's success can be attributed to the great and legendary Head Coach Dave Smart and the powerhouse Carleton program.

Connor Wood helped lead 3D Global Sports Canada in winning the 39th William Jones Cup, which Canada has only won once before in 1996 with the Canada National Team. The Canadian sniper averaged 14 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and shooting 50% from the 3 point line. The most astonishing statistic however is that Connor lead the whole William Jones Cup tournament in made three pointers per game with 4.1 and he even sat out a whole game!!!

Connor's experience with 3D winning the William Jones Cup:

"It was really great to be able to play with some pro guys who had already been through different pro systems and get some influence from them on where is good, what teams are looking for, as well as how my game would fit into it. The 3D program was very high class and professional. The Jones Cup was really well run and was an awesome experience to come to Taiwan and see different cultures."

Head Coach of 3D Canada William Jones Cup Team, Kyle Julius surprisingly commended Connor Wood for his performance:

"Connor wood is a product of the best basketball program in the history of our country. Connor plays the game the right way and is one of the best shooters I've ever coached. He understands the game and plays like a true WARRIOR. Connor wood was instrumental as a starter and off the bench to our success. He is a winner through and through. It's players like Connor that win championships and raise the standard on your team."

Connor Wood will be traveling back to Taipei, Taiwan to lead the U-Sports Canada Team in the FISU World University Games. Hopefully he can earn another championship and a possible MVP to add to his already impressive resume. If not, 3D Global Sports Canada would like to still wish Connor Wood and the U-Sports Canada Team all the best in representing the country.
