Canada WINS Opening Game vs Defending Champions

The first 39th William Jones Cup 2017 game for 3D Canada Global Sports came in extraordinary fashion. Canada defeated the defending champions, Smart Gilas Pilipnias (National Team) by a score of 90-77 in the newly built Taipei Stadium, in Taiwan.

The game between Gilas Pilipinas was streamed and televised live through Sports 5 TV and Akyson TV. Lead by legendary Head Coach legend, Chot Reyes, the Gilas Pilipinas roster featured star imports Mike Myers (2nd league of Italy for Mans Sana 1871) and Bobby Ray Parks (drafted by the Texas NBA D-League Legends, 2nd round). Also joining Gilas Pilipinas is fellow Torontorian Matthew Wright (St. Bonaventure NCAA) who has grew up playing with and against 3D Canada players Tramique Sutherland and Dwayne Smith.

Winning the first game of the 39th William Jones Cup is one of the most impressive victories and a stepping stone 3D Global Sports Canada program. With a very short training camp, Head Coach Kyle Julius managed to bring top players from across Canada and maximize their abilities as a team, hence demonstrating why he was the NBL-Canada Head Coach of Year and Champion with a 47-6 winning record.

For Canada, four players reached double-figures with Garret Williamson notching 15 points. The trio of Joey Haywood, Deigo Kapelan, and Michale Kyser chipped in with 12 points apiece.
